TOPEKA- Friday the 13th  is National Amber Alert Awareness Day, and Kansans can be glad that the year 2011 showed zero Amber Alerts issued from the Sunflower State. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says today serves as a good reminder for people to stay alert in case there comes a time when the public’s assistance is needed. The program’s inception dates back to 1996, and many more avenues have been made available so everyone can always be tuned in.
