WASHINGTON – After a year of sharp food price increases, the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts food prices will slow down. Food prices are falling below the rate of inflation this year and will remain below the inflation rate for the next decade, USDA food analyst David Stallings said.
He said that’s despite other factors that factor into the cost of food, including fuel prices and transportation costs. Food prices will likely increase in the near future but at a slower rate, he said.
