BUCYRUS — A top U.S. Department of Agriculture official will stop at a Bucyrus farm and other places in eastern Kansas and western Kansas to assess the impact of the drought. USDA under secretary for farm and foreign agricultural services Michael Scuse will visit the Daniel Guetterman farm in Bucyrus this morning and a farm in Mayetta in northeast Kansas this afternoon. Scuse hosted a producer roundtable at the Agricultural Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs Tuesday afternoon. The USDA said the extreme drought affects more than two-thirds of the United States.
