OTTAWA- An Ottawa man is recovering after a moped ride yesterday resulted in trip to the hospital. A transportation bus driver going South on Main, made a left turn to go East on 7th street, and in doing so hit a northbound moped driven by Frederick Byrd. Byrd suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Overland Park Regional. As of this morning, Byrd is in stable condition. This is the third time in a month that an Ottawa injury accident has involved a moped, bicycle, or a scooter. Ottawa Police Captain Adam Weingartner says the influx in such accidents is probably because more people are out on different modes of transportation to enjoy the nicer weather.
