OTTAWA — If the weather cooperates, organizers are expecting a record 1,800 vehicles for the 26th annual Ol’ Marais River Run Car show this weekend. A good rule of thumb that’s proved accurate over the years is that the number of cars that show up is double the number of pre-registrations, said Ed Clark, Over the Road Gang president, said. About 900 have pre-registered, which is a record, he said. One reason for the car show’s locale at Forest Park but the other is the opportunity for cruising. The River Run has two popular cruise nights. The big one is be Saturday night, which features the vintage classics rumbling their way along Main Street downtown. The Saturday night cruise will have 10,000 spectators, Clark said. But the River Run kicks off with an open Friday cruise night at Forest Park. The Friday cruise night offers a chance for owners whose cars aren’t old enough for the River Run to show off their classics, he said. Clark said he’s been told the economic impact of the car show is about $4 million.
