OTTAWA- Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Franklin County Vietnam Veterans  of America normally hold a service in honor of the men on the Franklin County Veterans Memorial, but are doing something different this year. Vietnam Veterans of America member Harvey Nicholson is setting up a flower arrangement at the memorial. With the flowers he will have an empty chair to symbolize the empty chair families were left with after their loved ones never returned from war. Nicholson hopes people make a point to pay their respects.
“I just think in some way, the public needs to know, there’s men missing from World War II, Korea, and also from Vietnam.”  Nicholson said. “We need to come together to represent their families and to pay a little tribute all day today.”
The memorial is located at the Franklin County Courthouse Square.
