WICHITA – Historian John W. Franklin will be the guest speaker for Wichita State University’s Gordon Parks Lecture Series. Franklin will attend a public reception Thursday at 5 at the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State. He’ll speak Thursday at 6 in the CAC Theater at Wichita State. Both are free and open to the public. Franklin is a director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture and he will talk about the development of the new national museum on the Washington Mall, opening in 2015. The event also includes a book release for “Gordon Parks Centennial: His Legacy at Wichita State niversity,” a 68-page book about Wichita State’s holdings of related to filmmaker, photographer and writer Parks. The book will be available for a special price of $15.
