OTTAWA — Construction begins next week on the Safe Routes to School sidewalk projects. The work will be done in phases and will take about a month and should be complete by Thanksgiving, said city planning and codes director Wynndee Lee. Construction will begin on the west side of Ash Street from 9th to 11th, the west side of Osage Drive from 15th to 16th beginning Oct. 28, the north side of 13th Street, from College to Kanza Park, beginning Nov. 4; and on the east side of North Cherry Street from Wilson to Garfield. Drivers should be alert to the work going on nearby and take precautions as they drive along the routes, she said. The work is being paid through a state grant.
