GARNETT — A woman pilot will portray another woman pilot Tuesday night for a special library program in Garnett. Bonnie Johnson, a test pilot and operations manager for Merkel Airplane Company, will portray Louise Thaden during the Friends of the Library’s annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Garnett Public Library. Thaden was a pioneer Kansas flyer and was a friend of Amelia Earhart. Thaden flew for Beechcraft and was the first woman to hold all three women’s flight records at the same time … altitude, solo-endurance and speed. The meeting is open to the public and is free.
