LAWRENCE — A 20-year-old Ottawa man is in Douglas County Jail on a $50,000 bond after being booked on charges of kidnapping and robbery. Dustin Jamal Burnett was arrested in Jackson County, Mo., Friday afternoon, the Lawrence Journal-World reported. Burnett is the fourth person from Ottawa to be arrested in connection with the Jan.10 robbery of four people at an apartment in the 1700 block of West 19th Street in Lawrence. The victims lost money, cell phones and other items. Three other suspects from Ottawa have been convicted: Colby Blaine Simon, 19, will be sentenced Dec. 10 for attempted robbery and theft; Dominique Rashad Burnett, 22, was sentenced to more than four years after pleading guilty to various charges; and Dallas Jay Ambler, 22, will be sentenced Dec. 21 on two counts of attempted robbery.
