LYNDON — Long-time Lyndon High School boys basketball coach Nick Dawson died Monday in a Topeka hospital at the age of 77. Dawson coached the Tigers for 35 years, leading the team to 542 victories, 15 league titles and six appearances in the state tournament. After he retired in 1998, he worked at the scorer’s table for 14 years. Lyndon’s gym was named after Dawson on Friday night. Shortly after the ceremony, Dawson suffered a stroke and was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital, where he died.
