TOPEKA — 10th District Rep, Terri-Lois Gregory has ended up on the front page of the Topeka Capital-Journal again. This week, the newspaper looked at her mileage reimbursements. Going through campaign filings, the paper reported the conservative Republican wrote herself a $4,600 check from her campaign funds a week after losing her primary to Blaine Finch. The paper said she claims her campaign still owes her more than $13,000 for mileage. She reports $5,469.20 in campaign cash remaining, but is allowed to keep raising funds to make up the difference even though her re-election bid failed. Gregory claimed more than 16,000 miles of travel throughout her two-county legislative district at 51 cents per mile — as the paper notes, enough to cross her district 549 times. The paper noted that her travel claims are even larger than western Kansas state senators whose districts span 18 counties. The paper said Gregory declined to comment. She has been a favorite target of the paper, which has reported on what it calls her fuzzy financial reporting, using her official state e-mails to solicit political contributions, and secretly recording a moderate Republican state senator from Topeka.
