LONE STAR — A 56-year-old Lawrence man was killed as a result of a tree-trimming accident last week just west of Lone Star in southern Douglas County. Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Lewis told the Lawrence Journal-World that Steven Hoover was cutting trees on a relative’s property Thursday afternoon when the accident occurred. A relative found Hoover trapped under a tree and called emergency workers. The paper reported that Hoover was taken by helicopter to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, where he later died.
