INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The Occupational Safety and hHealth Administration has blamed the U.S Postal Service for the death of Independence, Mo., mail carrier John Watzlawick in July. He developed heat-related symptoms and collapsed while on his route. The day before he died, he reported not feeling well, but his family says a postal supervisor at the Truman Station in Iindependence told him that couldn’t take the day off, KMBC Channel 9 reported. OSHA cited the postal service with a willful violation for failing to protect employees working in excessive heat. The postal service has 15 business days to appeal.
