WICHITA — The Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita is offering the public a chance to experience a flight in an F-4 simulator through Sunday. The “F4 Experience: offers detailed flight controls that simulate flying the large Phantom fighter-bomber, of which one wag once said “the F-4 illustrates the principle that given enough power, even a brick will fly.” Those taking the simulation flights have various options from a quick flight to one the museum pitches as challenging even for experienced pilots. The museum charges $20 for a basic flight that lasts 30 minutes and includes launch from an aircraft carrier. Fliers can experience a more demanding flight lasting 90 minutes that includes suiting up in a functional flight suit and being strapped to an ejection seat for $60. The museum also has on-going T-33 simulator flights. The Kansas Aviation Museum is at McConnell Air Force Base near the west entrance.
