PAOLA — A state plan to move Kansas Medicaid recipients into Kancare, a network of three private health insurance companies, hit a snag almost immediately in Miami County. The Miami County Republic and Osawatomie Graphic reported that when more than 3,700 Miami County residents received Kancare enrollment packets, they discovered none of the three insurance companies covered Olathe Health Systems, which owns the county’s only hospital, Miami County Medical Center at Paola, and the family care clinics in Paola, Osawatomie and Louisburg. An Olathe Health Systems official says her company is negotiating contacts with the three health insurance companies.
