BALDWIN CITY — A Gardner student is one of six Baker University students and a professor going to Washington for the inaugural ceremony of Pres. Barack Obama on Jan. 21, as part of Baker’s interterm. Professor Lee Green’s class is called “Washington, D.C., Travel Interterm: The History of Our Nation’s Capital City.” Joining Green are Justin Lane of Gardner, Megan Pontius, Andrew Leiker, Katelyn Morris, Owen Lewis and Paige Smith. Besides learning about the history of Washington and its public institutions and landmarks, and being a part of history, the Baker students have received other opportunities, including summer internships at the White House and in Congress, Green said.
