OTTAWA — ECKAN has received two emergency food and shelter grants for Ffranklin and Miami counties from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. ECKAN received a $4,595 grant for Franklin County and a $4,090 grant for Miami County. Local boards made up of government, church and charitable officials will determine how the funds will be awarded among local emergency food and shelter programs in each of the counties. The Franklin County board will meet 9 a.m. January 15 at the ECKAN central office in ottawa. The Miami County board will meet 2 p.m. Jan. 15, at 2 the ECKAN Miami County Center in Paola. Agencies requesting FEMA funds must call ECKAN to receive an application that must be completed.
