EDGERTON — 8-year-old girl of rural Edgerton drowned in a bathtub late Thursday night. Brittney Kennon was found unconscious in a bathtub at her grandparents’ home where she lived in the 200 block of East 2300 Road in southeast Douglas County, Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Lewis said. A neighbor and emergency responders performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in an unsuccessful effort to revive her, Lewis said. CPR continued as she was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said. Her death appears to be accidental, he said. The girl had a history of health problems, he said.
