GARNETT — Noon today is the deadline to file for city and school board positions across the state. The Anderson County Review reports as of Monday morning, only Commissioner Greg Gwin had filed for the one open Garnett City Commission seat. As of Monday afternoon, no one filed for the three seats for the Anderson County USD 365 school board. Steve Prasko and incumbent Bryan Miller have filed for two of the four seats on the Crest USD 479 school board. In other municipal races so far, Leonard Leadstrom filed for mayor and Carolyn Whitcomb and Marjorie Stephens filed for city council seats in Kincaid. In Lone Elm, only Howard Ludlum has filed for mayor. In Colony, Neal Wallace filed for mayor, and Robert Prasko and Steve Wallace filed for city council. In Westphalia, Merlin Carpenter filed for mayor and Dorothy Cameron and James Nolan have filed for city council.
