OTTAWA — Nineteen people filed for various Franklin County city and school board positions during the last-day frenzy Tuesday morning before noon. Most of the filings for school board involved West Ffranklin USD 287. The board is considering a controversial plan to close schools at Appanoose and Williamsburg and consolidate all schools at Pomona. For Position 5, incumbent Sherry Harris is being challenged by two others – Daniel Arnett and Carrie Lira. Position 2 incumbent Stacia Spencer is being challenged by Jackie Robbins. In earlier filings, Position 6 incumbent Thayne Bush is being challenged by two opponents to the consolidation plan, Matt Froggatte and Bruce Rockhold. Position 4 incumbent Stacy Hower is being challenged by another opponent of the proposal, Carol Scott Hamilton. The Wellsville school races are uncontested – Ron Bloss in Position 4, Clyde Coons in Position 5, and Juanita Peckham in Position 6.
