CENTRAL HEIGHTS — Tuesday’s filing period ended for the Central Heights school board ended with a surprise twist. New County Clerk Janet Paddock said she’s still checking but it appears one incumbent school board member who filed for re-election has been serving in the wrong position. Becky Savage has served four years as the board member for Position 6 and filed last week for re-election for her position but Paddock said it appears Savage is living in another district covered by positions 2 and 5. Paddock said her office noticed the discrepancy Tuesday morning. Under the position system, candidates must live in the district they represent. Position 5 is up for election this year and is held by Angela Wiederholt, who also filed for re-election, and if a change is made, the two members of the board would have to run against each other. If Savage is in the wrong district, challenger Shawn Cardin would be the only person who would be in Position 6. Paddock said because she filed, Savage would remain on the ballot but for Position 5. In the other Central Heights filing, board member Jack Davis filed for re-election to Position 4.
