RICHMOND, MO- One Richmond, Missouri, man’s fish story is completely true. While out fishing for crappie along the Missouri River, 70-year-old Ervin Franklin found a 4-foot alligator washed up on the sand banks. The shocked angler loaded the dead reptile into his pickup to prove this wasn’t the usual fish story. Officials at the Missouri Department of Conservation can’t confirm if it is either an alligator or a caiman. But say such beasts can’t live comfortably in Missouri’s climate. They tell Kansas City television stations that it’s likely the gator was probably someone’s pet that was set free after it ceased to be cute.
