CENTRAL HEIGHTS — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County and the Franklin County Cancer Foundation each received $2,500 grants from Monsanto’s “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” program. Leslie Scheckel applied for and won the grants from the program and designated the two nonprofits to receive them. Big Brothers Big Sisters, of which Scheckel’s daughter is a volunteer for, will use the money to pay for services such as volunteer training and screening, child enrollment, volunteer support and the monitoring of child safety. The Franklin County Cancer Foundation will use its grant to help local cancer patients with financial aid and health care items.
