OTTAWA — An ouster hearing for Sheriff Jeff Curry has been moved to next Thursday.
Special Prosecutor Todd Hiatt, of the Shawnee County District Attorney’s office, had sought to move up the ouster hearing before Curry’s preliminary hearing April 1 but said he would meet with Curry’s attorney about Curry’s official duties. Under state law, although he is charged with a felony, Curry can remain as Sheriff until he steps down, is convicted or ousted. There has been no immediate comment from Hiatt.
