GARNETT — If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then the Anderson County Review has kind words for the Franklin County Historical Society. The Review is developing four driving tour maps of historical sites in Anderson County. The project is modeled after driving tours developed by the Franklin County Historical Society, publisher Dane Hicks said. The tours will lead motorists to Civil War military camp sites, a forgotten railroad segment hand-dug by Chinese laborers and sites used for Air Force B1 and B2 practice bombing runs. The tour will also note that US 169 highway isn’t just a stretch of two-lane highway. It was also used frequently by country music legend Hank Williams as he traveled between Kansas City and Tulsa in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.
