ANDERSON COUNTY–The major race for voters in Anderson County for Tuesday’s election day – the Anderson County Hospital bond issue. The $25 million proposal seeks to build a new hospital and long-term nursing unit. The there are a few other contested races mostly in smaller cities. Two people, Merlin Carpenter and Sam Van Patton are running for Westphalia Mayor. Six people are running for five seats on the Westphalia City Council. Dorothy Cameron, Angela Highberger-Gardner, Carol Mechnig, James Nolan, Robert Ratzlaff and Kim Van Patton. In Kincaid, seven people are running for the five City Council seats – Brandon Gates, Judith Lenon, Tammie Neudeck, William Starr, Sr,, Marjorie Stephens, Darlene Stewart and Carolyn Whitcomb. In neighboring Richmond in Franklin County, five people filed for two City Council seats. Candidates are Helen Feuerborn, Barbara Lane, Doug McIntosh, Mary Anne Platte and Ricky Weber. For the Crest USD 479 School Board, Travis Church and Frank Stewart are running for position 4.
