PAOLA —  Miami County voters approved a proposal that would raise the county sales tax by a quarter cent to be used to help pay for a new jail on the edge of Paola.  The question won by 240 votes out of about 2,900 votes cast.  By a much wider margin, Osawatomie area voters approved a proposed $3.2 million bond issue that would pay for improvements at various school buildings and close the Swenson Early Childhood Education Center.  In the contested Osawatomie municipal races, incumbent Ted Hunter barely beat Will Cutburth by four votes for Ward One.  Amanda Martin defeated incumbent Mike Moon for Ward Two.  Jeffrey Wahlmann beat Brett Henderson in Ward Three.  In the only contested Louisburg City Council race, Tim Barnes beat David Cannon 35 votes to 28 for Council Ward Two.  The turnout was slightly more than 11 percent.
