TOPEKA — I-70 between Goodland and the Colorado border was closed Tuesday night because of the late winter storm raging in western Kansas. The Kansas Department of Transportation said I-70 reopened this morning. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and advisories for most of central Kansas, with many areas being pelted by wind-driven ice and freezing rain, and issued a hazardous weather advisory for eastern Kansas, including severe thunderstorms, heavy rains and high winds; as well as a possibility of snow and freezing rain, as the gigantic and powerful storm system sweeps across the U.S. The weather service also issued a flood watch for extreme eastern Kansas, including Miami and Linn counties today.
