OTTAWA — Acclaimed jazz saxophonists Jerry Dodgion and Rob Scheps will perform at Ottawa University Wednesday. They will perform Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Fredrikson Chapel alongside the University Jazz Singers, the OU Jazz Ensemble and the OU Faculty Jazz Septet. Prior to the concert, the two jazz greats will present a 50-minute saxophone master class Wednesday at 3:30 and will rehearse with the Faculty Jazz Septet at 4:30. Both sessions are open to the public and will take place in the Chapel Annex, room 100. The duo will also practice with the OU Jazz Ensemble at 5:30 in the Fredrikson Chapel before taking the stage for the concert. Dodgian backed Billie Holiday, Benny Carter, Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman. Scheps has played with such jazz greats as Buddy Rich, Dianne Reeves and Mel Torme.
