A Baldwin City bank says it will buy a former bank in Lawrence. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that the Mid-America Bank will buy the former Lawrence branch of Bank of the West at 4114 West Sixth Street. The bank had a small mortgage office in Lawrence but Mid-America President Dave Hill decided to put a full-service bank at the location. The bank should be offering full service by December 1. The new bank will expand the number of employees from two to seven. Mid-America has its main bank in Baldwin City, and opened a branch bank in Wellsville last December.
