OTTAWA — The Ottawa school district has settled a a long-running lawsuit against its former construction manager, Manning Construction Company of Olathe, for the last school bond construction work. Monday night the board accepted an out-of court settlement of $2.5 million dollars. The school board originally sued for $4.7 million, charging over poor quality work for roofs and epoxy floors and other construction deficiencies at the new Lincoln and Garfield elementary schools. Board member Dennis George said the settlement is a good deal, and ensures that the district will get some money rather than taking a chance on a trial and getting nothing. The settlement agreement followed a nearly hour-long executive session.
