GARNETT — Since Anderson County voters approved a 30-year, $25 million bond issue to build a new hospital, county and St. Luke’s officials are working out all the details needed to get the project underway. The Anderson County Review reported construction on the new hospital isn’t expected to begin until late summer, with a possible groundbreaking in mid-August. Anderson County Hospital CEO Denny Hachenberg told the Review it will take between a year and a year and a half to complete the building, barring the weather or unforeseen circumstances. Hospital officials are working with architects and engineers to complete a final design, all the way down to where electrical outlets will be located. Like the present hospital, the new hospital will be owned by Anderson County but operated by St. Luke’s Health Systems. Hospital officials will continue to use the Web site, www.newandersoncountyhospital.com, to keep people informed with the latest happenings on the project, Hachenberg said.
