OTTAWA — Thursday afternoon at 5 is the deadline for applying for the vacancy on the Ottawa City Commission. Commissioners decided to advertise for candidates to the position vacated by Jeff Richards, who became Franklin County sheriff. Commissioners will interview candidates and select one candidate to fill out Richards’ two-year term. For applications, check the city’s Web site or contact the city manager’s office. Candidates must be residents and registered voters of the city.
