FRANKLIN COUNTY – Despite the prolonged cold weather, spring is nearly here and with it comes termites and ants. The problems for homeowners arise when trying to tell the difference when both types of insect can fly. Frontier extension district agriculture and resources agent, Darren Hipton says it can be difficult to tell the two apart, but there are some distinct differences.
“The biggest difference between an ant and a termite is the ant has more of a segmented body with a thin waist,” Hipton said. “A termite has more of an even size from one end to the other.”
