LAWRENCE — A 60-year-old Lawrence man was seriously injured when his ultra-light airplane crashed Wednesday afternoon in a field on the southeast edge of Lawrence. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Dennis McNish was trying to take off from the field behind his home and just after he left the ground, the plane struck a tree row. He was taken to KU Medical Center. The crash is under investigation.
