GARNETT — The first Garnett area community band’s first concert of the year, the tenth annual spring concert is on Sunday afternoon at 3 at the Anderson County Junior-Senior High School auditorium in Garnett. Director Jeff Russell says the band will open with the ever-popular “National Emblem March” by E. E. Bagley. Sunday’s program also includes military band selections, as well as Gustav Holst and Mozart and some Broadway favorites such as “Memory” from ‘Cats.’ He says local musicians will be joined by musicians from across the area including Lawrence, Olathe, Ottawa and Osawatomie. The concert is free and refreshments will be served immediately following the concert in the commons area.
