RICHTER — This afternoon, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol and other officials were investigating a body found in a garage in the 3100 block of Georgia Road near Richter and east of Pomona. Sheriff Jeff Richards said as of mid-afternoon, there wasn’t a lot of information about the death or who it might be. However, the entire block of Georgia Road was cordoned off and the situation was being handled as a crime scene. Richards said the death was “suspicious in nature, is the way we found it, we don’t have any information at all right now but we’re calling in extra resources that we need so we can go ahead and get this processed; and it’s being processed as a crime scene.” The county emergency command was set up at the scene. A highway patrol helicopter was searching the area.
