WEST FRANKLIN/CENTRAL HEIGHTS — Nearly 5,200 ballots are being mailed Wednesday to voters in the West Franklin USD 287 and Central Heights USD 288 school districts who live in Franklin, Osage and Anderson Counties. Franklin County Clerk Janet Paddock says the ballots must be returned to her office by noon June 4. If voters don’t receive a ballot by Monday or Tuesday, she said they should call her office. Paddock is mailing and counting the ballots from all three counties to simplify the election. West Franklin’s bond proposal is for $14.8 million and would build a consolidated school at Pomona and close schools in Appanoose and Williamsburg. Central Heights’ bond proposal is for $1.87 million and would replace the round roof on the original school building, replace bleachers and make other improvements in the gymnasium, replace kitchen appliances, build a new band room and a locker room facility at the Bud Schaub Sports Complex.
