TEXAS – The Boy Scouts of America have voted to change one of their oldest rules. Boys who are openly gay will now be allowed to join and participate in Boy Scouts. The vote passed with 61 percent of the 1,400 voters in favor of removing the ban on including homosexual boys in scouts: a ban that has lasted for the last decade. President of the Boy Scouts of America Wayne Perry says the change is a step towards acceptance of all youth.

“Our vision is to serve every kid,” Perry said. “We want every kid to have place wher they belong to grow, learn and feel protected.”

The new policy will go into effect on January 1st next year.
