GARNETT — A powerful series of thunderstorms parked over central Anderson County early this morning caused some low-level flooding. There were no serious problems reported because of the flooding, Anderson County emergency management director J.D. Mersman said. In some cases, six to eight inches of rain fell in a short time in parts of the county today, he said. A flash flood warning issued by the National Weather Service early this morning for Anderson County, was replaced by an urban and small stream flooding advisory. The rain was in addition to Saturday’s severe thunderstorm that caused downpours, knocked down tree limbs and cut some power, he said.
