LAWRENCE — Several Ottawa residents were hospitalized following a two-car crash on U.S. 59 near the North 1000 Road exit, just south of Lawrence Saturday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Kathryn Polsley, 58, Ottawa; was driving a Chevy Blazer SUV south on U.S. 59, when the back of her SUV was hit by a south-bound car driven by Jeremiah Horseman, 20, Raleigh, Ill. Both drivers lost control of their vehicles, which skidded and rolled over, the highway patrol said. Polsley’s SUV rolled over several times before it came to rest on its top in the west ditch. Horseman’s car ended on the west shoulder on its wheels. Polsley and several of her passengers were taken to hospitals. She and Geri Polsley, 31; Rylen Polsley, 3; Kaytlynne Polsley, 9; and Jonathan Polsley, 30; were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Cynthia Polsley, 27; and Seth Polsley, 23; were taken to KU Medical Center. Horseman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for minor injuries but refused treatment at hospital. The Lawrence Journal-World reported that authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
