TOPEKA — The Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service reports the winter wheat harvest was about 60 percent complete at the first of the week. The harvest is well behind the hot pace of last year. The harvest was 99 percent completed at the same time last year. The late-June average is 67 percent. Cutting across the state was delayed this year by cool and rainy weather. It rates the condition of wheat still in the field as 43 percent poor to very poor, 24 percent fair and 33 percent good to excellent. The report also said farmers have planted 97 percent of the sorghum crop and 95 percent of soybeans.
