WELDA — The wheat harvest yielded an arrest for a Welda-area farmer last week. The Anderson County Review reported Tim Starr, 74, was taken into custody after he pulled a shotgun on a custom harvester during a dispute in a wheat field southwest of Welda. The paper quoted sources who said Starr hired a custom harvest crew to cut his wheat but refused to pay the workers after the wheat was loaded. The sources told the Review that the truck driver refused to transport the load to an elevator, and after words were exchanged with Starr, dumped the load of wheat on the ground. At that point, Starr is accused of producing the shotgun. There were no reports of shots fired and no injuries. Deputies were called to the scene and Starr was arrested.
