GARDNER — All lanes of I-35 will be closed beginning tonight at 7 until 5 p.m. Saturday as a contractor demolishes the Homestead Lane bridge over I-35 near Gardner. Crews will dump dirt on I-35 to protect the pavement from bridge debris, the Kansas Department of Transportation said. The bridge and columns will be removed by heavy equipment and blasting. Interchange ramps and other sections of the roadway will also be closed at varying times, KDOT said. That includes the northbound I-35 left lane at K-33 near Wellsville, and K-33 to the northbound I-35 ramp will be closed tonight from 8 until 9 a.m. Saturday. I-35 between K-33 and 175th Street at Gardner will be closed tonight from 9 until 8 a.m. Saturday. In the event of bad weather, the closures will be pushed back one day to Saturday night and Sunday morning.
