OTTAWA — Two business executives and a scientific researcher have been named to this year’s Ottawa High School Wall of Honor. The 2013 inductees are Robert Hill, John Going, and Lauren Ward. After his World War II military service and receiving a legal degree, Hill returned to Ottawa and pursued a more than 60-year career at the Kansas State Bank of Ottawa, which was founded by his father in 1917. He helped create the Ottawa industrial park, and co-chaired the bond drive to raise Ottawa’s matching funds for the flood control system. Going has taught chemistry and has served as a researcher and chemist. Going has received international recognition as an expert in explosions and how to protect against them. Ward has been an entrepreneur, real estate developer, and management consultant and helped run a trucking company, a paper merchandizer, a franchise restaurant, and several rice farms. He has also been involved in environmental conservation, preserving more than 300,000 acres of land from Alaska to the Mississippi river. The banquet will be Sept. 12. Tickets will be available beginning Aug.13 from the Ottawa High School office at $15 per person. The three will be honored at series of events, including an all-school assembly and the formal induction during the half-time of the football game Sept. 13.
