OTTAWA — Ottawa could request help from the National Park Service to expand the network of hiking and biking trails by including the riverfront.  City Commissioners scheduled a vote for next week on applying for technical help from the Park Service concerning the Flint Hills Trail. They discussed the application at Monday’s study session.  That Trail follows the abandoned Missouri Pacific Railroad between Council Grove and Osawatomie.  Commissioner Blake Jorgensen says Council Grove and Newton have done a good job of using their riverfronts and that Ottawa has resources that would allow the community to have similar good results.
