IOLA — Eight people were injured including three children from Colony as a result of a two-vehicle crash at US-54 at the US-169 interchange on the east edge of Iola Friday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Ashley Coy, 16, Humboldt; had stopped at the stop sign at the northbound off-ramp from US-169 and attempted to turn on to US-54. The Highway Patrol says she failed to yield and her car was broadsided by a minivan driven by Barbara Stokes, 56, LaHarpe; which was going east on US-54. Coy was injured and taken to Allen County Hospital in Iola. Stokes was injured and taken to Allen County Hospital, as were six passengers in her minivan. They were Trenton Vest, 16, Laharpe; Bryson Trester, 8, Girard; Connie Vest, 62, LaHarpe; Brianna Trester, 11, Andrya Trester, 10, and Kristopher Trester, 7, all of Colony. Troopers said they were all wearing seatbelts.
