VASSAR — Signs were going up Monday afternoon closing K-268 in Osage County near Vassar. The Kansas Department of Transportation is removing the K-268 bridge over the abandoned Missouri Pacific Railroad near Vassar. It will be replaced with a rigid frame box structure for pedestrians using the Flint Hills Trail, which follows the former Railroad. A marked 15-mile detour is provided via US-75 and K-68. The project is scheduled to be finished by early November, weather permitting.
