PAOLA — Two Johnson County teens charged in the ATV death of another teen have been sentenced in Miami county District Court. 18-year-old William Sutherland and 18-year-old Taylor Sheets each received 18 months of probation each in connection with the accident that killed 17-year-old Shawnee Mission East student Tyler Rathbun, the Web site Prairie Village Post reported. Rathbun was riding on an ATV that overturned in a field in rural Miami County Nov. 25. He was flown to a Kansas City hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries. Sutherland was charged with aggravated endangering of a child and unlawfully hosting minors consuming alcohol. Under a plea deal, he pleaded no contest on the charge of unlawfully hosting. Sheets was charged with involuntary manslaughter and DUI. She pleaded no contest to an amended charge misdemeanor charge of vehicular homicide.
